I thought I would shed some light on this and give you an quick overview of what to update and how it works.

Facebook Fan Page Timelines have publicly launched! Here is a breakdown of what you need to know to prepare for the mandatory shift to fan page Timelines on March 30th.
Before we begin, preview what your brand’s Timeline will look like here.

1. Cover art and profile images

• Cover photo size specs: 850 x 315 pixels
• Profile photo size specs: (see Coke bottle below as an example) 180 x 180 pixels
• Milestone photo size specs: 843 x 403 pixels
• According to Facebook’s new terms of service cover photos cannot contain:

Price or purchase information, such as “40% off” or “Download it at our website”.
Contact information, such as web address, email, mailing address or other information intended for your Page’s About section.
References to user interface elements, such as Like or Share, or any other Facebook site features.
Calls to action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends.”

2. Your Profile Information

The “about” description is now displayed below your profile image. Fans also can view basic insights about your page when clicking on the number of page “likes,” or fans.

3. Featured Apps (formerly known as Facebook Tabs)

I know a lot of marketers are all upset about not having  the “Welcome” tab for your page. From now on, your fans are taken directly to your new fan page. However, fan page tabs have not been discontinued altogether. They have been moved under the cover art photo, on the right-hand side, and are now referred to as “apps.” You are able to see four tabs along the top bar. “Photos” and “Likes” are displayed as a default, leaving you with two apps to feature before clicking the drop-down arrow to view additional apps. Here is a view of the expanded tabs of Coca Cola, so that you can get a feel for the display:  The cool thing about this if you really want to make this work for  you simply change the app image which is so easy to do and you can put something like Start Here or something that is eye catching and also because these tabs are now bigger you can seriously get some great website type fanpages that you can drive traffic to and get a lot more leads.  I’ll be following up with this in a lot more details in the coming weeks.  If you want a great fanpage creator that is all up to date with the new setup check out Imtoolsuite

3. Highlighted Posts 

Just like on your personal page you can now click the star and highlight a post which will span a crossed both columns this is great for a big event or something you want to have standout now.  The fanpages are also very blended which makes for a great setup as people won’t really know the difference anymore and making it very easy to brand yourself and get more people visiting using pay per click to drive visitors or some other types of methods.

4. Milestones

Another feature is the ability to highlight specific milestones and accomplishments of your brand. On your personal Timeline you can mark the dates of notable events such as getting a new dog, when your nephew was born or when you purchased a house. Similarly, brands can now highlight details such as when they were founded, a launch of new retail or a new partner/sponsor.  This is great for marketers maybe you get qualify for a new level in your network marketing company or something big happens in your company.

5. Private Messages

Fans can directly message you on your fan page from the “Message” tab. Now, you can troubleshoot any issues and provide customer service within the Facebook platform; you no longer need to leave the space and continue the conversation via phone or email. This is one additional step for community page management. Message inboxes need to be consistently monitored for followup. You may need to make room in your strategy for someone in customer service to have administrative access to your page in order to accelerate response times.  Now if you want to really interact maybe while you where running your Facebook PPC or any type of marketing to your fanpages you can now interact with them live.

6. Administrative Updates

Page administrators have access to a private “Activity Log” where they can see all of the updates and comments that have been made by fans and page managers. Recent updates are captured, along with an overview of page insights, at the top of the administrator view of the fan page. This new dashboard is especially helpful for brands with multiple admins who monitor and engage with fans regularly.  As a marketer we can get a little more insight on our visitors and this allows you to target them a lot better.

6. Participate. You want to gain credibility, right? Communication is a two way process so is social media. That’s one thing you shouldn’t forget about. You can be more aware of the field you are in and prolong your buzz by participating in conversations. If you keep on engaging yourself with conversations, it will result in a snowball effect. That is why participation helps your message spread faster and further.

7. Distinguish your targets. You are a marketer and should have certain consumer or target audience. If at first you don’t have a clear vision of who your targets are, then you are in trouble. It is for fact that not all will appeal to the service or products that you are marketing the better thing for you to do is to find out whom to appeal.

8. Create content that works for you. Reality check, there are lots of content that you can publish as long as it is related to the industry you are in. Write as many as you can or have someone to write for you. People want information and updates. You can give out tips or write a series so that your audience has something to look forward to from you. This will keep them from coming back to your site.

9. Prove that you are real! Let’s face the fact that nobody wants to engage with people who are fake, right? Social Media Optimization maybe a big help to you but then you shouldn’t forget SEO guides too. So if you want to be rewarded for your hard work, be real!

10. Be humble! Time will come wherein you will be at the right spot at the right time.  And if that time comes, do not forget those people around you that helped you out to be where you are.  Bear in mind that if you know how to look back, you will always have something to look forward to. Show your respect and you will gain credibility.

1.    Boost your exposure through links. As you will notice in the internet community, many sites appear to be rarely updated. So if you want to optimize your site through social media, you need to update the content then use the links of your content to be visible on different social media sites. Below is an Interview I did with my Good Friend Jim Chao who is a Facebook Marketing Genius he has really got this down. He was visiting me recently and I was talking with him about some of his techiques and how he gets so many leads daily.  He went over everything with me step by step and man it is amazing.  See when it comes to marketing to be in the top 3% you seriously have to seperate yourself when it comes to branding this is something I teach on my blog in my coaching and to all my team members.  You want exposure Facebook is the way to get this exposure however it can also backfire on you if you don’t setup your account and abide by the rules of Facebook.   If you create value and attract people to you then you will find that your reputation will grow and you’ll gain followers, as well as people who will seriously want to listen to what you have to say and offer.

Jim also explained to me that the main things with regards to Facebook is so many people lead off with their MLM company and they just send out mass messages and post on walls all over the place which people get very annoyed with this technique and it doesn’t work period.  You must create you and then post value, tell about your family your lifestyle.  People want to know that you are real, honest and sincere in what you are doing and then and only then will you get people who will follow you on as a friend.  I’ll even go a step further with this it is not difficult to get friends especially since Facebook is so huge.  However to get those people to listen you must offer them something they want and need.    Facebook is like scrapbooking people love lifestyle, how your success is going and they want what you have but only if you create that value.

When setting up your Facebook you want to make sure first and foremost use your name or some form of it.  Don’t pick a name that is your company your are promoting that is not how to make Facebook work to your advantage it will weigh against you and you’ll end up instead of building your reputation in a positive way you’ll have the opposite effect.  You also want to make sure to have somewhere to send people like a blog where they can get training, value and or tips to grow their business.   The other thing we want to discuss is fan pages this is a must I think right out the gate so you can start to create that branding right away and especially if you have a blog start getting fans from there and from your facebook page itself.  This is a powerful tool when used right.

You want to spend about 30 mins a day minimum building up your account and building relations on their to gain friends, followers and fans alike.  Get a group setup this is so powerful along with your fan page all this tied together and with the proper skills you will seriously be able to explode your Facebook responses and leads.
