Marketing Strategy is a process that allows an organization and or individual to concentrate its limited resources on the greatest opportunities to increase sales and attain a sustainable competitive advantage. It should be centered on its main goal which is the concept of what is known as “customer satisfaction”. .  A marketing strategy combines product development, promotion, distribution, pricing, relationship management and other elements; identifies the firm’s marketing goals, and explains how they will be achieved, ideally within a stated timeframe.  With Internet and Network Marketing you have the same concept.

Before you, as a marketer / entrepreneur even, start creating an internet marketing strategy for your website and or business, you need to do research to make sure every step you take will be effective. Actually, that’s where everything should begin. You need to understand where you are and what you can do for your business to grow using your website as your medium.  The website is a very important part as you can drive mass traffic but if your information you deliver isn’t good it won’t work.

Below are the phases you need to go through:

Phase # 1 – Online Study / Research

This is the phase wherein you are to determine – who your main competitors are – their products, what are they doing, their weaknesses and are they able to constantly build links?  Can they generate lists?

This is also the phase wherein you have to determine who your customers are – what or where social networking they can be found, are they more of a freebie seekers or real buyers, what drive’s them to buy a product and or service?

In order to accomplish this data, you may read reviews, forums and testimonials to find out this information of your target market so as to avoid possible challenges you may encounter.

Phase # 2 – Analyzing your Data

After gathering the data that are significant to your business, it is now time for you to systemize it. From that data, figure out the strengths and weaknesses of your competitors. This way, you can have an edge over your competitors. You’ll get to know your competitor’s targeted market so you can know what is going to work for your system. It also allows you to find out how well it is working and are their customers satisfied or not with the product or approach of your competitor. Then, that’s the time you can offer something better to the market. After that you can now go to the next phase which is to develop your marketing strategy.
